Day 6 of 21: A Noble Woman

Strength and dignity are her clothing… Proverbs 31:25

Proverbs 31 records a mother’s sayings on what it looks like to be a woman of noble character.  In life, there are times that I don’t always feel noble.  These times are even more present when I think about the challenges I have faced in my young life.  I think of being pushed to the point of anger and hurt.  During those times it seemed like my human nature outshined my ability to be noble.

In my mind, noble women don’t get beat down.  They don’t burst into tears over past hurt.  They stand through what comes their way; showcasing to the world a near perfect reality.  But I lean not on my own understanding, and I look to the Lord for clarity.  Proverbs 31 provides clarity on what makes a woman noble.

In the list of characteristics of a noble woman, the words strength and dignity stood out.  I questioned my ability to be strong and dignified though opposition.  What makes me strong? When I think about someone who is strong, they can hold a lot of weight. So, to answer my question, yes I am strong, I have taken a lot, and yet I am still here.

By definition, strength means, “ the capacity for exertion or endurance.”  So today I offer you hope, you are strong.  You are strong because you are enduring.  And along with strength, there is your dignity.  Dignity is the “quality or state of being worthy, honored, or esteemed.”  Because God handmade each of us we are worthy, worthy of honor.  Today I pray that you embrace your nobility.
