I remember my very first time in the pulpit. My text selection closed with, Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers., Galatians 6:10, NIV. As Christians, we need to embrace each and every moment to do good to all those we encounter.
Our goodness should extend to those who don’t always reciprocate the behavior. How rewarding is it to show kindness to someone who hasn’t always been nice to you. When we do nice things, this is the love of Christ extending through us. Christ should be our motivator and reason we do good to all.
Today I was asked to do a kind gesture for someone who hasn’t always been nice. I know the person would love the gesture. I adamantly refused because I didn’t want too. After reflecting today I agree it would be a nice gesture. This person has been mean to me and most likely thinks I feel the same way. Offering them a kind gesture shows the Christ in me. The love of Christ surpasses all understanding. I am sure that being nice to your enemies will surpass their understanding too. My prayer is that I develop into the type of Christian who continues to do good no matter the circumstances.
It’s hard sometimes to do good, but it always pays off at the end. God Bless..
