I often think our offenders wait for us to retaliate in the same nature that they hurt us. Today I am charged with breaking that expectation. When you see the ones, who have hurt you simply smile. By smiling, you are showing them the God that is in you.
Think about how God shows us kindness. I disobey God, yet He still fulfills His promises. As Christians, we should strive to fulfill our mission set by Christ. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! Matt. 54:13, NLT.
The ones who have hurt us likely committed the acts because they are hurting. Anyone intentionally hurting someone else needs to see and feel the power of Christ. Leading by example is the greatest way to witness to others. Acts of kindness show others the true power of Christ. What an amazing love Christ exhibits for us. Christ loves us despite all our faults and shortcomings. He died for us! We should love our neighbors despite all their faults. Even when that fault caused us pain.
Being nice to someone that has hurt you is easier said than done. We must invite God to the healing process. Today I’m going to pray to God to send me opportunities to show kindness to those who have hurt me.
Nothing like forgiveness .
